As per Tenant Fees Act 2015 - Schedule 1

From 1 June 2019, the only permitted payments we will charge tenants for will be;

  • Rent
  • Utilities and council tax
  • A refundable holding deposit of one weeks’ rent.
  • A refundable deposit (capped at six weeks' rent where annual rent is above £50 k and five weeks’ rent where annual rent is below £50K)
  • Changes to the tenancy requested by the tenant (capped at £50 per change)
  • Reasonable costs incurred for early termination of the tenancy requested by the tenant
  • Defaults by the tenant, such as fines for late rent payments (14 days or more charged daily a maximum of 3%APR plus BOE base rate) or lost keys. (These must be "reasonable costs", with evidence given in writing by the landlord or agent)
