What our young residents are looking forward to this September

Back to school season brings a mix of excitement, fresh starts, and memorable conversations across our communities. Over the past couple of weeks, our community engagement teams in Bristol and Crawley visited families at Imperial Apartments and Sutherland Quarter to hand out school supply kits ahead of the new term.
The kits provided a wonderful reason to knock on doors and catch up with residents. One boy shared his excitement about learning ancient history, while a young girl who recently moved from London spoke about her hopes of making new friends. Another child kept it simple, declaring football as the main event. A few children were so eager to dive into maths that they gave Samuel Shorten, our community engagement officer in Bristol, an impromptu arithmetic lesson right on their front doorstep.
At Imperial Apartments, site security team member Blaise completed much of the door to door delivery, receiving warm appreciation from parents. Over at Sutherland Quarter in Crawley, Community Engagement Officer Vasudev Guigan noted that pencil cases and water bottles were flying off the shelves.
"Being out among the families is the best bit of this job," said Samuel Shorten. "You get a proper sense of what people are looking forward to, and this term there was a lot of it."
We also ran a small competition asking kids what they were most excited about this term. The remaining supply kits are being handed out during upcoming events, including a coffee morning at Imperial Apartments this week.
