Back to School Smiles at Sutherland Quarters and Bristol: Caridon Supports Families with Free Packed Pencil Cases

Last week, Caridon marked the start of the school year with a special treat for the children living at Sutherland Quarters. To help them begin their new academic adventures well-equipped, we handed out free packed pencil cases filled with essential supplies. The joy on the children’s faces was clear as they set off, ready and excited for what lies ahead.
Monique Arowojolu, our Resident Engagement Administrator at Sutherland Quarters, organised the pencil case distribution and spread the word across the community. She reflected on the event: “The kids were thrilled with their packs. Seeing their smiles and their parents’ relief was truly heart-warming. It’s lovely to know these small gifts make a difference. We’re already looking forward to running this again next year.”
Monique also emphasised how important community events like this are within affordable housing: “These activities, alongside our coffee mornings, arts sessions and workshops, really bring people together. They offer support, foster friendships, and help residents feel the care from the on-site team. It’s a privilege to be part of their lives in this way.”
The back-to-school campaign didn’t stop at Crawley. Our Engagement Officer, Vasudev Guigan, launched the same initiative in Bristol, reaching over 80 families. Thanks to Vasu’s close work with local organisations, charities and businesses, residents in Bristol enjoy a wide range of workshops, skills sessions, and creative and sporting activities designed to support mental and physical health, while building a vibrant, connected community.
